2005 Florida High School Appellate Brief Writing

The Florida Supreme Court in cooperation with the Florida Law Related Education Association, Inc., and the Young Lawyers Division of The Florida Bar have organized a new appellate program for high school students. The appellate competition will serve as a companion program extending the educational opportunities offered through the Florida High School Mock Trial Program. This year's mock trial case will incorporate an issue on appeal which will become the basis for an appellate brief writing and moot court competition. Students are not required to participate in the mock trial competition to enlist in the appellate program; however, students may participate in both programs if they choose to do so. This represents an excellent opportunity to experience the appellate process firsthand. Students will argue before District Court of Appeal Judges and Florida Supreme Court Justices in the final rounds of competition.
